Walnuts are excellent for food preparation and are increasingly in demand as a versatile and healthy ingredient because of their omega-3 fatty acids and other important nutrients. In terms of producing other foods, they are used in baking and pastry-making. They are also added to bars, cereals, snacks, toppings and salads. The food industry uses walnuts in halves, pieces, chopped and in flour. In terms of colour, they are classified as light, amber or combinations or degrees of these.
